A few weeks ago my friend Monica reached out to me with a question about the benefits of Ganoderma Lucidum. Not knowing much about it (especially in coffee) I began researching it.

Ganoderma Lucidum (GL) is a purple-brown mushroom that grows on decaying logs and tree stumps and is indigenous to North America, Japan and China but can be found in several other Asian countries. ‘GL’ as a Non-Western treatment is used to alkalize and oxygenate the body promoting healthy PH balance on a cellular level. The science behind use of ‘GL’ is that disease cannot exist in a highly oxygenated environment.

Here are a few benefits/uses for modern day diseases I found:

  1.  Helps balance blood sugar and pancreatic functions.
  2. Increase Metabolism
  3. Helps unclog arteries and supports liver function
  4. Minimizes Fibroids
  5. Fight cancerous tumors

‘GL’ can be taken in capsule and liquid extract forms, both available at health food stores. The more popular ways to take this super herb are through coffee and teas. These coffee/teas have been described as incredibly bitter so beware!

There were few side effects that I came across but before you run out and grab any form of ganoderma lucidum consult with your physician (especially if you are on any medications.)
