This weekend I’ll be joining the team of amazing women at GirlTrek , and I am beyond EXCITED! I was first introduced to GirlTrek by my fit sis and founder of Fit 4 Dance, Laci Chisolm. In true Krishna fashion I started stalking, watching their every move.
GirlTrek is a groundbreaking 3-year-old national nonprofit that mobilizes women to live their healthiest, most fulfilled lives through a habit of daily walking. Through grassroots organizing and award-winning social media campaigns, GirlTrek supports thousands of walkers, over 400 neighborhood-based volunteers, and inspires an ever-growing network of 200,000 supporters through social media. GirlTrek’s health movement is fueled by active role models, street organizers, authentic partnerships, and a whole lot of hustle!
GirlTrek is quickly becoming a “go-to” organization in the public health space. They have built partnerships with outdoor retail brands as well as Kaiser Permanente, the National Park Service, and First Lady Michelle Obama’s Let’s Move Campaign.
The teams over at Girltrek are gearing up to see what you’re made of, and get you moving. All across the country teams will be meeting up to walk and if you’re in NYC you should join in. A group will meet up at the newly opened Fit4Dance studio, 154 Utica Avenue (bet. Prospect Park and St. Marks) at 8:15 am for a nice trek through Brooklyn (RELAX, it’s only to Franklin avenue). Not only will you get your daily workout but what better way to build and connect with women on similar fit journeys!
While I won’t be able to make it to Brooklyn, I’ve committed to 2.5 miles (each way) on Long Island. If you’re in the Hempstead/Garden City area come out and join me at the Country Life Press station at 9am!
Need a little more inspiration? Well here are a few ways from our friends over at Chobani to get you motivated and on your way to a healthier, happier, fitter you!
