I love Summer! I love the sun, the heat and all the fresh yummy fruit available for me and my family to eat. But no summer would be complete for me without the sweet juice dripping, seed sucking deliciousness of peaches.
Unlike other summer fruits peaches have a pretty long season (end of June-early September) but they tend to be the sweetest during July and August. I like to incorporate my favorite fruit into cooking, to water or tea for a twist and sometimes I just sit in my yard and eat one – savoring the summer. With all their goodness peaches also have a tons of health benefits.
Here are a few:
Contribute to Eye Health: Peaches are a rich source of beta-carotene which improves vision health by encouraging circulation of blood. The lycopene and lutein also help prevent macular degeneration which can lead to blindness.
Brightens Skin: The high content of vitamin C is great way to clear up dark spots and aid in lessening wrinkles.
Toxin Cleanser: Peaches contain high amounts of fiber and potassium that reduce kidney related disease and chances of developing ulcers.
Forget an Apple a Day: Peaches are full of vitamins including vitamins A,C, E and K as well as several minerals like calcium, magnesium and zinc.
So get out to your local fruit market, get some peaches and enjoy!
